Give him the Sea Chest.
Each letter flies as its own flag.
A navy rigid chest with silver corners and a chart drawn inside the lid. On top, his initials hoisted in signal flags, the way a ship spells a name. Packed and ready, or packed by you, piece by piece. Your note goes in with it.

How it reaches him
Everything that comes aboard01A plain mailer
Navy board with the rope badge on the corner. Nothing on the outside says what's inside.
02His initials on the lid
Hoisted in signal flags and printed for his chest alone. The chart inside the lid is drawn from the same letters.
03Your note on top
On a card laid over the tissue. If you ask, the packing slip lists the pieces and no prices.
04What comes in every chest
The Colors sticker sheet, a Pilot of something he hasn't tried, and a card from the Ship's Log.
